Friends & Family Day
The
Chamber will have a booth at Reading's Friends and
Family Day which will take place on Saturday, June
20 at the Birch Meadow area in Reading from 11 am
- 3 pm. If you would like to place promotional
literature or products at the Chamber booth,
please contact Irene Collins to make arrangements.
There is no charge for this.
June
Quarterly Meeting - "Social Networking for Small Businesses"
The Chamber's June
Quarterly meeting will be held next Wednesday, June
17 from 7:30 - 9:00 am at the Flint Memorial Library
Community Room located at
147 Park Street in North Reading, $10 members/$20
non-members and includes a continental breakfast.

Showcase
5-Mile Road Race - Gift Certificates Needed
The Showcase 5-Mile
Road Race will take place on Wednesday, July
15 at Ipswich River Park in North Reading. Race
day registration begins at 4 pm with a race start
time of 6:15 pm. We are seeking sponsors,
volunteers for the event and gift certificates as
rewards for our winners. Please contact the Chamber
if you are interested in being a part of this fun, summer
event.
New Sports Therapy Area at Road
Race
The Showcase Road Race is offering a new sports
therapy tent for health and fitness businesses for
$100 during the event. The Sports
Therapy Area is being offered on a first-come, first-serve
basis to current 2009 Chamber members that offer a
free service for event attendees. This
area will be under a separate tent past the Finish
Line and is limited to six businesses. You
must supply your own table and equipment. Close
to 200 runners attend the road race which also takes
place during a highly attended summer BBQ
concert series at Ipswich River Park. Contact
Irene Collins if you are interested.

Reading Fall Street Faire - Official Grand
Opening of Readings newly restored Downtown and Flagpole
Rededication
A Street Faire in
Reading is being planned for Sunday, September 13 from
12 - 6 pm. The festival will include entertainment,
street performers, retail and food vendors and much
more. It is expected to draw large crowds. For

Wanted
The Reading Street Faire planning committee is
seeking the use of a
flat-bed
truck as a stage for entertainment and assistance
from a
licensed
electrician to perform vendor inspections the
day of the Faire.

Smith of Sage Financial Joins the Chamber Board
of Directors

Board of Directors effective July 1. Sheila has
been an active member of the Chamber for many
years. Sheila was most recently on the
Women Celebrating Women committee. We look

Board of Director Openings for 2010
If
you've ever considered becoming a member of the
Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, now is the time
to think seriously about it. There will be
four seats open in January 2010. Board membership
is a valuable business tool which offers excellent networking
and respected community marketing opportunities.
Directorship responsibilities include; attending an
8 am board meeting the first Wednesday of every
month, volunteering for fund-raising committees, attending
public affairs when necessary, obtaining and supporting
business members and keeping a watchful eye on the business
climate in your town.

Treasurer Wanted
The Chamber
of Commerce seeks a treasurer for the Executive Committee
to begin in January 2010. Responsibilities include
using Quick Books to track and report the Chamber's
profit & loss, expenditures and balance statements,
and requires attendance at monthly board meeting
to present reports.
